I was pleasantly surprised to learn this morning that the River Terrace Trail (aka the 300 Foot Trail) is truly a part of a future regional trail system. I knew from the River Terrace maps that there was a desire for this trail to connect to the Westside Trail, but what I didn’t know is that the draft master plan for the Westside Trail includes the River Terrace Trail as an alternate route for trail users who want to go around (and not over) Bull Mountain. Connecting these two trails at Barrows Rd and Beef Bend Rd will also make for a great trail loop (for those of you, like myself, who would rather not just go out and back). If I’ve piqued your interest in the Westside Trail, you can learn more here: http://www.oregonmetro.gov/index.cfm/go/by.web/id=40400.

In addition to learning about how the River Terrace Trail fits into the larger regional picture, I also learned that there are many folks out there who want to ride their horses on these trails. I’m curious what others in the community think about this and encourage you to share your thoughts on this site.
