On September 28, 2015, the City Manager sent a letter to Metro asking them to add the area south of River Terrace and north of Beef Bend Road to the Urban Growth Boundary (UGB). Currently this area, known as Urban Reserve Area 6C South, is zoned for exclusive farm use and cannot be developed for urban purposes, including the extension of urban infrastructure such as  new roads. The city supports adding this area to the UGB for a number of reasons. The main reasons are that an expansion of the UGB at this location would allow for direct access to existing infrastructure along Beef Bend Road, improve connectivity for all modes of travel, and provide opportunities for better storm water management.
